01 — MY APPROACH

Scalability is a design choice, not an afterthought.

I prioritize decoupling services and leveraging efficient data structures to ensure systems can grow without breaking.

When services communicate asynchronously, systems become naturally fault-tolerant.

I.

Performance is measured in milliseconds.

I analyze bottlenecks before they become outages. Whether it's database indexing or Redis strategies, the goal is always speed.

II.

Reliability requires observability.

I don't just ship code; I ensure it's debuggable through structured logging, proper tracing, and proactive monitoring.

III.

Complexity should be managed, not feared.

Decomposing monoliths into microservices is challenging, but organized architecture turns technical debt into a scalable foundation.

02 — FEATURED PROJECT

IMYME · AI WEBSITE BUILDER · LIVE SAAS

A high-performance SaaS platform for instant site generation.

BUILT WITH

Next.js, NestJS, Postgres

THE CHALLENGE

Building for scale.

The platform needed to handle complex multi-tenant routing, LLM integration, and fast site generation while maintaining sub-second loading times.

I focused on state management, database efficiency with diff-based updates, and clever caching strategies to ensure the platform could scale effortlessly.

THE STRATEGY

Polyglot persistence and Redis.

Used PostgreSQL for relational data and MongoDB for flexible content nodes, optimizing database load through node-specific updates.

Implemented advanced caching strategies including sliding-window rate limiting and ISR cache handlers, ensuring data consistency even under high concurrency.

THE TECH · HIGHLIGHTS

CORE

Architecture

Event-driven design with BullMQ jobs for background tasks, ensuring the UI remains responsive.

AI

Integration

Engineered a failover LLM pipeline supporting multiple providers with telemetry for cost and latency tracking.

DATA

Optimization

Utilized diff-based partial updates to reduce database overhead significantly on large site modifications.

INFRA

Deployment

Seamless handling of wildcard subdomains, on-demand TLS, and automated invoicing integration.

MICROSERVICES

Contributing to the modernization of an aviation records platform, moving from a monolithic structure to a robust microservice architecture.

06 — THE LEARNINGS

Complexity is solved by breaking it down.

Technical debt, monoliths, and difficult performance bugs are just opportunities to refine architecture and sharpen skills.

TECH CHALLENGE 01 — MODERNIZING LEGACY

Aviation Records Platform

Big Oh Tech · 2025

We faced a 20-year-old monolith that struggled with modern scale. I worked to decompose this into 30+ independent NestJS microservices, refactoring core domain logic while ensuring the system remained performant during the migration.

What I learned: Service boundaries are difficult, but event-driven communication via Kafka is the right path. What we achieved: Significantly higher throughput and a fault-tolerant architecture capable of processing millions of documents.

TECH CHALLENGE 02 — SAAS ARCHITECTURE

imyme.app

Solo Project · 2024

I set out to build a platform that allowed users to deploy pixel-perfect websites instantly. I spent weeks iterating on the Redis caching strategy and database schema to ensure that even with high concurrency, site load times remained near-zero.

The biggest hurdle was balancing the real-time needs of the visual editor with the performance requirements of the final published sites. I learned that proper indexing and multi-layer caching are non-negotiable for scale.

TECH CHALLENGE 03 — API PERFORMANCE

Client-Side Optimization

UrsTech · 2024

I inherited an application that was struggling with high latency. By identifying unoptimized database queries and implementing intelligent API-layer caching, I reduced response times by 35% without needing to upgrade underlying infrastructure.

Efficiency is often a matter of measuring the right metrics. Once I saw the data, the bottleneck was obvious, and solving it created a much better experience for the end user.
